Why renovation by-laws are important

A renovation by-law defines the rules for undertaking renovations within your strata property. Most owners corporations will have some form of renovation by-law in place for their building or for selected lots, depending on the type of work that is being done. They may differ from property to property.

If your property does not have a renovation by-law in place or the by-law does not cover the type of renovation that is being undertaken, a renovation by-law may be required before any renovation applications can be considered.

A standard renovation by-law is known as an approval program for minor and major renovations works by-law. This excludes specialty by-laws that are tailored to the requirements of a specific renovation project.

Step one: Once we receive your enquiry form, our team will conduct an initial consultation on the type of by-law required and provide a tailored quotation.

Step three: Our team will draft the required by-law, motion to adopt the new by-law and consent form (if applicable) tailored to your specific property and in line with the current legislation and case law.

Step four: You will have the opportunity to review the by-law, motion and consent form (if applicable) prepared by our team.

Step five: Once the motion and by-law are approved at a general meeting of the owners corporation, our team will then consolidate the by-laws into Word document and register the by-law at NSW Land Registry Services via PEXA.
